FORMATION

The Three Sisters were formed naturally into the shape of three rocks. Erosion was a massive contribution to the formation of the rocks.

The soft sandstone of the Blue Mountain rocks is easily eroded by wind, rain and rivers. It was also formed by wind and water cutting and wearing away soft parts of the rock in the mountains.

Water is constantly running down the rock so it is possible that the 900m tall rocks will no longer be there in the future.
